Under construction

Poor Luke! Cody and I decided to go ahead and make him wear a DOC band (helmet) to reshape his head.

The pediatrician had told us that his head flattening was very mild and that he didn't think he'd need to wear a band, but after seeing the specialist we realized that Luke would benefit from it. He really doesn't care or even notice he has it on. He's still super happy and smiling all of the time. Luckily, he's only five months old and at this age the head is still very malleable. He will wear it 8-12 weeks.

They said the main cause for it all was his positioning in my belly. (From the day he was born, he has always favored turning his head to the right.) That makes sense since one week before I had him people thought I was only 5 months along and Dr. Wai couldn't believe that my belly was measuring at only 32-33 weeks yet Luke was almost 7lbs, not a small baby for my size. We also have to do neck stretches to loosen the muscles on the right.

The other moms in the waiting room at our last appointment were all very encouraging and the kiddos were so cute wearing their decorated helmets. (I guess I need to go buy stickers ASAP or Luke will feel left out at our weekly appointments for the adjustments!)

Luke is NOT sick. He's healthy and happy. We decided to go for it because we didn't want the flattening to hinder his modeling career... HA! Just joking!
