Les voitures de Tonton Ben

My bro gave these cool Tonka cars to Luke for Christmas.

Luke is 14 months old!

Some of his favorite toys (old and new): the ball popper, the Tonka trucks my brother gave him for Christmas, the musical table, the big Fisher Price cube, the piggy bank, and books.

He is not walking yet but showing more interest in trying. He's taken a few steps here and there.

He can understand both French and English but still hasn't said his first real word. It might take him longer than normal since he receives so much language input. He has mamamamamamama down though and I love it!

He is still my sweet and happy boy and is soooo flexible.

A La Bécasse!

Luke's middle name, Prosper, is after my great grand-father, Prosper Steppé, who was the founder of this pub in Brussels. My dad and his sister still own the pub and the building! It's been in the family now for over 130 years! It is one of the oldest pubs in the capital and locals and as well as tourists love to come here. Lambic is the specialty beer served there. It's a non-carbonated beer and it's just so yummy! Even Luke enjoyed it during our visit!!! (And yes, my mom was there too! I can't believe I don't have a picture with her.)

Here is Luke eating a piece of "cervelas", a type of sausage served with delicious and super strong Dijon mustard. Of course, I didn't put any mustard on that piece for Luke.

Luke really loved the Lambic and wanted to keep on drinking it! It made my dad happy! Of course, we only let him drink a few sips!

Christmas with Mimi and Papa

We celebrated Christmas early with Cody's dad and his family before we left for Belgium. Sadly, I didn't take many pictures. Maybe Mimi (Cody's stepmom Kathy) can share the few she took also.
As always, we got so spoiled!!!! I joked with Cody that I could now open a daycare center! Luke received a PBK chair, the Cozy Coupe Car, a picnic table and umbrella, dvds, books, Tonka cars, the Vtech Touch and Learn Turtle, a Fisher-Price See and Say toy, clothes, and I'm sure I'm forgetting other things.

Merry Christmas!

Luke is 13 months old!

Here is what he's been up to.

He is still crawling and not walking.
He loves trucks, wheels, and balls.
He loves to put things inside of things.
He thinks he's funny when he unrolls an entire roll of toilet paper.
He loves to drop things/toys on the tiles because it makes noise.
He still enjoys reading books and I often find him in room turning pages of his favorite books....too cute!!!
He's had a runny nose and cough for the first time.
His favorite food lately is clementines and oranges.

One year later!

Last year was the first annual Christmas party at the Wessels and I took this picture when Luke was just four weeks old.

And here is this year's picture in front of the same super cute gingerbread man tree. Luke is just a few days shy of being 13 months old in this picture.

Luke's one year pictures

Some of my favorites! Terry with www.clarinesmith.com did an amazing job!

It's my sock, Dukey!

C'est ma chaussette Duke!!!

Thanksgiving 2009

This year Cody and I got to go to the Cowboys game on Thanksgiving day and it was a blast. Cody was invited by someone he does a lot of business with and we got to hang out in a field-level suite and we also had access to first row seats! I just couldn't believe how awesome it was.

Before the game, we went to his dad's house and ate a yummy lunch. We left Luke there and he was well cared for by Kathy, Becky and my sister Lléna!

Luke's First Birthday Party!

We are ready for our guests!

The party!

Sweet Reagan loving on Duke!

Brooke loved this ball popper toy and played with it all night! She said that she picked out her dress especially for Luke's party! How sweet :-)

Randy the cowboy! And here's Lindsey. She took most of the pictures for me (thank you!) and therefore I only have a couple of pictures of her.

The boys were watching football of course.

The girls were looking at Luke's one year pics on the computer.

Luke got his first haircut!

I was too scared to go for the real deal so I just asked her to keep it natural! Thank you, Lyndee! You did a great job! (Cody was upset that I only came home with tiny pieces of hair and not one big curly piece...oops!)

Luke's one year stats

We visited the pediatrician today for his one-year check-up. Luke is doing great!
He weighs 23.6 lbs (58%) and measures 31 inches (84%). His head is still in the 94% and we joked that it must be a sign of intelligence. Ha!

He got three shots but he didn't get the seasonal and H1N1 vaccines because the doctor was waiting on a shipment of them. So we will go back for that as soon as possible. (Hopefully before our germy flight to Belgium in four weeks!)

I gave him whole milk for the first time today and he liked it. Dr. Tran had warned me that it might take a while for Luke to like it but it seems like he doesn't mind it at all.

Luke pèse 10,6 kg and mesure 79 cm.

Luke is ONE!

The day finally came! I was not ready for it and I cried!

But I am happy. We have a beautiful and healthy son and I'm having soooo much fun staying home with him. I sometimes miss the tiny baby he was a few months ago but it is also so much fun to watch him grow and become a little boy. I love his sweet and laidback personality. He's always happy and just so easy going!

I got a really bad video of us singing happy birthday to him when he woke up. I should have turned the light on, oops!

Here is Luke opening his very first gift from his buddy Jake.

Thank you, Jake! Luke thinks it's super cool! He loves trucks and wheels so it's just perfect!

We will have a party for him on Saturday and I will have lots of pictures to post after that.

Marleigh's new house!

Marleigh had an open house to show off her new place! It was a fun party!!!
