Punta Cana, Dominican Republic!

NOTE: I AM NOT FINISHED WITH THIS POST BUT I WILL GO AHEAD AND POST IT ANYWAY.

We stayed at ClubMed. I highly recommend it for a family vacation. The beach was beautiful and the water was so clear. We will definitely go back to ClubMed there or somewhere else.

Our room (and it was the basic one) was set up with a pack and play, a baby bathtub and a stroller. We had a living area that was separated from the bedroom by sliding doors. The room had a plasma TV, fridge, plenty of closet space and the bathroom had two sinks and a huge shower.

The beautiful view from our room!

Luke was still sick (A few days earlier, he was diagnosed with strep and a virus and had high fever.) We spilled all of the antibiotics on the plane going to Punta Cana so the first thing we did was meeting the doctor at the resort and he gave us a new prescription. We weren't too worried because our pedi had retested Luke for strep the day before and it had come back negative. But we knew it'd be best to give him all 10 days of the meds just to be sure. The first two days Luke slept a lot!

On Thursday, Luke was still feeling pretty weak but we were so excited to be at the beach that we went for a short walk anyway. He also broke out in a rash so we quit giving him the new antibiotics in case he was allergic. It could simply have been caused by the virus, the sun/heat, but we decided to be extra cautious.

Thursday night, Luke dislocated his left elbow. Nursemaid's elbow :-( He only cried for about 10 minutes so at first we weren't sure that's what it was but when we woke up the next morning, he wouldn't use his left arm. We made a quick trip to the doctor at the resort (who knew us by name already!!!) and he tried to fix it but couldn't. We took it easy on Friday and Luke was starting to feel a lot better. The rash disappeared also. (Later, after our trip, our pedi put all of the pieces together and was fairly certain that Luke had the virus Roseola, which would explain the high fever and rash!)

Saturday morning, Luke's elbow was still hurting. Since I always have my priorities straight, I decided to first have a massage on the beach! It was heaven!!! Then a G.O. took us to the local private hospital where we saw an orthopedic surgeon. He laughed at us, told us he was 99.9% sure it was indeed nursemaid's elbow and as he was explaining things to us, he quickly fixed it. Luke was taken by surprise, it was very painful and he screamed for about two minutes. Ten minutes later, he was back to his normal self, playing, healthy and happy and Cody found himself $650 poorer! BUT our vacation was finally starting! (Luckily, I just received an email from our insurance who will reimburse us $581!!!)

Smiley Luke was back! Yippie!!!! We had a blast until the end of our trip!
