A La Bécasse!

Luke's middle name, Prosper, is after my great grand-father, Prosper Steppé, who was the founder of this pub in Brussels. My dad and his sister still own the pub and the building! It's been in the family now for over 130 years! It is one of the oldest pubs in the capital and locals and as well as tourists love to come here. Lambic is the specialty beer served there. It's a non-carbonated beer and it's just so yummy! Even Luke enjoyed it during our visit!!! (And yes, my mom was there too! I can't believe I don't have a picture with her.)

Here is Luke eating a piece of "cervelas", a type of sausage served with delicious and super strong Dijon mustard. Of course, I didn't put any mustard on that piece for Luke.

Luke really loved the Lambic and wanted to keep on drinking it! It made my dad happy! Of course, we only let him drink a few sips!

Christmas tree in Belgium!

My parents always get a real tree. We used to always cut one in our backyard but in the last few years they just got way too big and my parents had most of them cut down for good. Now, they just buy a tree from a neighbor who grows them especially for Christmas. I love the smell of a real Christmas tree!

I had fun decorating the table for Christmas. One of our traditions is to buy a lottery ticket to hide in the napkin. This year, the winners were: Cody, my uncle Jean and me! We each won six euros! Hehehe!

Christmas with Mimi and Papa

We celebrated Christmas early with Cody's dad and his family before we left for Belgium. Sadly, I didn't take many pictures. Maybe Mimi (Cody's stepmom Kathy) can share the few she took also.
As always, we got so spoiled!!!! I joked with Cody that I could now open a daycare center! Luke received a PBK chair, the Cozy Coupe Car, a picnic table and umbrella, dvds, books, Tonka cars, the Vtech Touch and Learn Turtle, a Fisher-Price See and Say toy, clothes, and I'm sure I'm forgetting other things.

Merry Christmas!

Luke is 13 months old!

Here is what he's been up to.

He is still crawling and not walking.
He loves trucks, wheels, and balls.
He loves to put things inside of things.
He thinks he's funny when he unrolls an entire roll of toilet paper.
He loves to drop things/toys on the tiles because it makes noise.
He still enjoys reading books and I often find him in room turning pages of his favorite books....too cute!!!
He's had a runny nose and cough for the first time.
His favorite food lately is clementines and oranges.

One year later!

Last year was the first annual Christmas party at the Wessels and I took this picture when Luke was just four weeks old.

And here is this year's picture in front of the same super cute gingerbread man tree. Luke is just a few days shy of being 13 months old in this picture.

Some of my favorites! Terry with www.clarinesmith.com did an amazing job!
