I had a non-stress test done again today. The baby's heart rate was perfect. He/she was very active again. My belly is tiny, only measuring 28 cm but the baby is doing so well that Dr. Wai is not concerned at all.
Next week, we'll have a sonogram. I can't wait to see the baby again. And soon, I'll get to hold him or her in my arms. I can't believe it will happen so soon!
Don is Cody's uncle and Cheryl is his cousin. I had met Cheryl a few times before but I had never met Don. Since Cheryl was unable to make it to my baby shower, we decided to get together for lunch this past Saturday. We had such a great time. Don is really a funny guy and I enjoyed listening to his stories. The guy knows everyone and everything. I hope we'll get to enjoy their company again soon.
As of today, our niece Brooke is officially a big sister! Owen Brent O’Brien was born at 1:28 p.m. He weighs 8lbs 6oz. I got to be there at the hospital when the very proud daddy announced the news! Cori made it look so easy again. I got see them just 30 minutes after his birth and she looked glowing and rested. Owen is a cutie of course and looks a lot different than Brooke did when she was born. So that makes me think that maybe Owen will look just like his mommy! Congratulations Cori, Brent and Brooke! Pictures to come…
Becky and RJ came to visit last weekend. Becky wanted to check out the messy nursery! RJ wanted to show me how cute she looks in the outfit I gave her for her first birthday. She thought it was fun to climb on the changing table. This little girl is just too cute!
I just got back from my weekly appointment with Dr. Wai. I gained almost three pounds in one week! He was very happy with that. It is just so weird how I can go from not gaining anything for two or three weeks and then all of the sudden putting on three pounds in just one week!
I had a sonogram today. The heart rate was 143 bpm, the approx. weight of the baby is 4lbs 9oz and the baby is measuring 33w2d, so still a week ahead. Everything looked really good.
Dr. Wai and I talked again about the delivery. It will really be a last minute decision but a c-section seems the safest option for the baby. We think that the baby will be born at least a week early, so around November 10th. We discussed all of the increased risks due to my genetic mutation and without warning, things can just go wrong at the end. So we will not be pushing our luck and we will have the baby a little early.
I can get a little anxious and stressed out thinking about all this, so if you don't mind, keep us in your prayers and send positive thoughts our way!
My sister Lléna and my friends Becky, Jenny and Lindsey hosted a beautiful baby shower for me on Saturday. It was hosted at Becky and Greg's house in Fort Worth. Everything was just so perfect... yummy food, cute decorations, and so many loving people were there to wish us the best.
Here are some pictures. Voici quelques photos.
I had a doctor's appointment on Tuesday (9-16-08). I go weekly now. We had our first non-stress test done to monitor the baby's heart rate. Everything was perfect. The baby's heart was beating strong and he/she was very active.
My weight gain is slowing down again (and my belly was only measuring 27cm instead of 31cm) and Dr. Wai officially gave me orders to eat more. Some of you might laugh, wishing you had that "problem", but I think it's just as hard to force yourself to eat more when you're not hungry than it is to eat less and watch your food intake. I have to eat healthy he says but salads and chicken won't do the trick. So, I'm thinking about adding a vanilla shake a day, a little pastry from the French Bakery, etc :-)
I go back next Tuesday for a sonogram.
This is a picture of an ultrasound I had done at the end of June. The baby has grown a lot since then. In fact, at my last appointment on September 9th, the estimated weight of the baby was 3lbs 9oz. Everything is looking good so far and I start my weekly appointments next week.
With only 6-8 weeks before Baby Carlisle's arrival, I thought it was time to start a family blog to keep everyone updated. My family lives in Belgium, and I know that they will love seeing pictures and reading stories about the new addition to our family.
